The Aspire 3 has a matte 15.6-inch display with a 1920×1080 native resolution. In our opinion, the contrast ratio and maximum brightness are too low at 500:1 and 165.9 cd/m², respectively. We would expect that a notebook in this price range would at least have a brighter display.

What’s more, the Aspire 3 uses PWM to adjust display brightness. We measured PWM flicker of 25,000 Hz at 20% brightness and below. Fortunately, the high frequency should spare even those who are sensitive to PWM from eye problems or headaches.
