The chassis consists entirely of an aluminum case that is internally reinforced by plastic bars and frames. This can be appreciated very nicely on the dismantled bottom cover: The plate itself is thin and flexible, but together with the plastic bars, it becomes solid. In terms of feel, the construction makes a solid, durable impression.

The same applies to the hinge, which is nicely tightened. The base with the battery at the front is heavy enough to prevent it from lifting up when being opened. The base is rigid, but it’s not completely torsion resistant. If we hold it at the corners, we can twist it considerably, whereby the gap between the frame and the aluminum base plate moves.

The lid with the backside made of aluminum is stiff and resistant to torsion. Slight pressure on the back doesn’t cause any changes on the image. The palm rest is firm, and applying force doesn’t dent anything either. The same applies to the large ClickPad that has a solid metal base.
