Package contents: only the essentials

We don’t find much in the package with the computer. As usual, there is a set of safety brochures and a short manual on how to turn on the laptop. The package also includes the EliteBook itself, which is wrapped in plastic. And finally, I must not forget the 65 W USB-C charging adapter. It has a one and a half meter long cable itself, to which a meter long “Micky-mouse” still needs to be connected.

Design and workmanship: simply decent

I’ve always had a soft spot for HP laptop design and I like almost all of them, including the ones from the past. The EliteBook x360 1040 G6 is no exception, its appearance is, in a word, decent. It’s not as austere as ThinkPads from Lenovo, but it’s not as extravagant as ZenBooks from ASUS, it’s just decent.

Hewlett Packard has a relatively unified design and all EliteBooks, ProBooks and certainly others look very similar, in this respect they are probably trying to imitate ThinkPads, whose design is also really unified.

At first glance, the glossy HP logo catches the eye, which is essentially the only prominent element not only on the display cover. It does not tend to twist and is very strong, the same applies to the hinges, which are adapted for 360° rotation. Thanks to this, you can use the laptop in many ways – laptop, tent, tablet, stand and more.

The design of the hinges is based on the very old Lenovo Yoga concept from 2012. If they have the same durability, it’s a recipe for success

Keyboard: so I like this

If you are going to write on the computer, the keyboard will definitely come in handy, that is the advantage of 360° laptops, which are not only a tablet, but also a standard laptop. The EliteBook x360 1040 G6 really surprised me with its keyboard quality. It is quiet, precise, does not have too high a stroke and is very pleasant to write on. Of course, there is backlighting and already standard multimedia keys instead of function buttons, which can be activated temporarily via the Fn key or permanently using the Fn lock. It’s just a pity that there is no Trackpoint, which I personally would have liked.
